Little Troopers - Bedtime Stories

We know that serving parents are so frequently away from home and often communications can be limited or sporadic. We also know that a bedtime story is one of the most important times to a child.

So.....we teamed up with Harper Collins Children's Books to bring families Little Troopers Treasures; it will make story time precious every day and will ensure children never miss a bedtime story from their parents again; they can watch the recordings over and over whenever they miss their mummy or daddy.

Download the app on your iPad HERE

Once you are registered (only register once you just need a family login) you can log in and view the bookshelf with various titles available, then simply record a story. The app will capture your face, your voice and the story book pages while your record, it will all then be immediately wrapped up with love and saved on your device and can be watched or listened to or both over and over again.

There is also some supporting resources such as a weekly planner, separation diaries and time difference sheet for you to print and use to compliment the app.

AFF Reassured About Housing Safety For Army families

Following the tragic incident at Grenfell Tower in London, the Army families Federation (AFF) has approached the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), to clarify whether multi-storey Service Families Accommodation (SFA) features any external cladding, which would potentially present a fire risk.

Safety assured
DIO checked the position of this issue and were able to inform AFF that multi-storey buildings are predominantly brick construction. The external wall insulation used on recent energy efficiency upgrades to military housing has also been confirmed as meeting all relevant building and fire regulations.

AFF Housing Specialist Cat Calder said, “Ensuring the safety of our Army families is paramount and AFF has received assurances of safety from all relevant parties involved. DIO has also advised us that a review will now be carried out of all non-habitable areas such as stairwells, plant rooms and communal areas, to confirm the safety of the Army families living there.”

Contact AFF
If families are at all concerned about safety in their SFA, they should contact housing maintenance and repairs contractor CarillionAmey (CA) directly on 0800 707 6000 or contact AFF’s Housing Specialist Cat Calder on housing@aff.org.uk

Forces Mutual - Vote For Your Everday Hero

To celebrate this Armed Forces Day, we have given the Forces Family a chance to nominate their everyday Forces Heroes and be in with the chance of winning a share of over £1,000.

We’ve had an amazing response so far and have received some truly inspiring nominations, and although it wasn’t an easy task whittling down a long list of heroes, after much consideration, we have finally drawn up a shortlist of nominations which has now gone to a public vote.

We would love to reach out to as many people as possible as everyone who votes will automatically be placed into a £50 prize draw.

Using Social Media - A Guide for Military Personnel

The use of social media is accepted by Defence and, when
used appropriately, should be encouraged.

The issue we face is not why or how we use social media, but how
well we use it.
The government has produced a useful guide that tells you what is
and isn’t acceptable social media behavior for military personnel.
